Sirino and Green headline Durban City’s eight-player rebuild ahead of new Betway Premiership season

Nedbank Cup holders Durban City have launched a major overhaul of their squad with the signing of eight new players, including ex-Kaizer Chiefs attacker Gaston Sirino and former Orlando Pirates youngster Seth Green, ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.

The club confirmed the arrivals in an official statement, saying the signings are aimed at further bolstering the first team as preparations intensify for the new season.

Uruguayan forward Sirino, who previously turned out for Kaizer Chiefs, is among the headline additions and will be reunited with Khalil Ben Youssef. Durban City did not specify the length of his deal but underlined his role as part of a broader recruitment drive.

Green, once on the books at Orlando Pirates, has also completed his move and signed terms with the club, who are referred to as the “Team of Choice” in the announcement.

Eight new faces in Durban

Durban City confirmed that they have completed the signings of:

All eight players have already joined their new team-mates in camp and started training as part of the club’s pre-season programme.

In the statement, the club said: “Durban City FC has further strengthened its first-team squad with the addition of eight new players ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season. The Club has completed the signings of: Gaston Sirino, Junior Papier, Kabelo Mofokeng, Lifa Makua, Siya Msomi, John Mokone, Tylo Sanger, Seth Green.”

The club added that the new recruits are fully integrated into the group as preparations continue: “The players have already linked up with their new teammates in camp and begun training as preparations continue for the new season.”

Cup winners target league impact

Durban City head into the new campaign as reigning Nedbank Cup champions and are looking to translate that knockout success into a stronger showing over the course of the Betway Premiership season.

The influx of both experienced and emerging players is intended to deepen the squad after last term’s cup run, with the club moving early in the window to finalise their business before the start of competitive fixtures.

No transfer fees, contract lengths or further terms were disclosed, and Durban City have not yet outlined the specific roles each of the new arrivals will play. However, the blend of attacking, midfield and defensive options suggests a comprehensive attempt to add depth across the pitch.
