Cheikhou Kouyaté is on the verge of completing a move to Turkey, with the Senegalese international in advanced talks to join Amed SK.

The 34-year-old, who is currently a free agent, is expected to arrive in the country within hours to finalise the deal.

The midfielder, well known for his commanding presence in the Premier League during spells with West Ham United, Crystal Palace, and most recently Nottingham Forest, has been without a club since leaving the City Ground earlier this summer. His availability has attracted interest across Europe, but Amed SK appear to have won the race for his signature.

Advanced Negotiations Underway

Sources close to the talks indicate that discussions between Kouyaté and the Turkish outfit have reached an advanced stage. The contract terms have largely been agreed, with only the formalities of the signing and medical checks remaining before an official announcement.

For Amed SK, securing a player of Kouyaté’s stature would represent a significant coup. The club has been actively seeking experienced reinforcements to balance its youthful squad, and the addition of a seasoned international could provide much-needed leadership both on and off the pitch.

The Coach’s Influence

Head coach Mehmet Altiparmak is believed to have been instrumental in bringing the deal close to completion. From the early stages of the transfer discussions, Altiparmak made it clear that he saw Kouyaté as a vital addition to his midfield.

His insistence and direct involvement reportedly helped speed up the negotiations, with the player himself encouraged by the coach’s vision for the team.

Kouyaté, who has earned more than 80 caps for Senegal, is recognised for his versatility in midfield and defence. Throughout his career, he has been admired for his physicality, work rate, and ability to organise the team structure in high-pressure matches.

A New Chapter at 34

At 34, the former Anderlecht man is approaching what could be the final chapter of his professional career. Yet, his decision to take on a fresh challenge in Turkey highlights his determination to remain competitive at the top level.

For Amed SK, Kouyaté’s arrival is expected to bolster not only their midfield but also the overall mentality of the squad. His experience in major tournaments, including World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations campaigns, provides a wealth of knowledge that younger teammates can learn from.

Looking Ahead

The transfer is set to be confirmed once Kouyaté completes the final steps of the process, which include medical examinations and contract signing. Should everything proceed smoothly, the midfielder will be introduced to supporters in the coming days.

For Senegalese fans, Kouyaté’s move is another reminder of the longevity and resilience that has defined his career. Having already carved out a reputation in England and Belgium, his next challenge lies in adapting to the demands of Turkish football.

If he settles quickly, Kouyaté could prove to be one of the standout signings of the season for Amed SK, offering both stability in midfield and invaluable leadership for the campaign ahead.
