Senegalese international Amath Ndiaye inspires Real Valladolid comeback win over Granada

Real Valladolid came from behind to claim a vital 2-1 victory over Granada on Monday evening, with Amath Ndiaye Diedhiou scoring a crucial equaliser before Chuky sealed the win from the penalty spot.

In a meeting between two sides chasing promotion but struggling for consistency, Valladolid showed resilience and composure to turn the match around in front of their home supporters at the Estadio José Zorrilla.

The win lifted Guillermo Almada’s team to seventh place in LaLiga 2, while Granada’s poor run of form continued, leaving them in the relegation zone.

Granada struck first midway through the first half when Jorge Pascual found the net after being set up by Senegalese winger Souleymane Faye, who produced a well-timed assist in the 28th minute.

The visitors looked in control for much of the opening period, pressing high and keeping Valladolid’s attack at bay.

But the home side responded strongly after the break.

Pushing forward with greater urgency, Valladolid found their equaliser through Senegal international Amath Ndiaye, who calmly slotted home in the 58th minute.

It was a landmark goal for the forward, marking his first of the season and reigniting Valladolid’s hopes of a comeback.

Granada’s situation worsened late in the game when Senegalese defender Baila Diallo was forced off injured with ten minutes remaining, leaving the Andalusian side under added pressure.

Valladolid took full advantage of their momentum, continuing to press until their persistence paid off.

In the 88th minute, Chuky converted from the penalty spot, sending the home crowd into raptures and completing a dramatic turnaround.

The result was a deserved one for a Valladolid side that showed belief and composure even after falling behind early on.

For Granada, it was another frustrating evening that exposed their defensive fragility and inability to hold onto leads.

Despite flashes of promise from Faye and others, they were ultimately undone by lapses in concentration and a late surge from the hosts.

Valladolid’s victory strengthens their position in the race for promotion, while Granada will be left to regroup as they seek to pull away from the drop zone.

The match also highlighted the growing influence of Senegalese talents across both teams, with Ndiaye, Faye, and Diallo all making their mark in a contest defined by determination and late drama.
