Senegal v Brazil friendly is a prestige match, says Pape Thiaw
Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw is gearing up for his team’s high-profile friendly against Brazil, a fixture that promises to test the Lions of Teranga against one of football’s elite sides.
The upcoming match marks the third meeting between Senegal and the Selecao, with the West African side having claimed a win and a draw in their previous encounters.
For Senegal, the clash serves as crucial preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations, while Brazil will be eager to rebound following a recent defeat to Japan.
“Yes, Senegal vs. Brazil is a prestige match. We have certainly played Brazil twice. This will be the third time. The last two matches ended in a draw, I think in Singapore, and a victory in Lisbon, if I remember correctly,” Thiaw told reporters, as per Pulse Sports.
“Now, there will be a match in London. So, we know that Brazil is a team that needs no introduction. It is a very good team, and as we say, in preparation matches, it serves to prepare things, to solidify what we have achieved, and also to try to correct things.”
Thiaw added that facing top-tier opposition provides valuable lessons.
“And I think that against teams like Brazil, we can find all these things, and it will allow us, if we have to rectify things, and there will surely be some, we will rectify them before this Africa Cup of Nations, which is close to our hearts.
“So there you go, and to leave with all the means and be ready to be able to go and defend, go and seek this title, which is the Africa Cup of Nations.”
