Idrissa Gueye Udinese legal case update cleared

Udinese striker Idrissa Gueye is close to seeing the legal case against him dismissed after the Senegalese Ministry of Transport confirmed the authenticity of his driving licence, paving the way for a favourable outcome in proceedings in Italy.

The situation began on 30 March 2026, when the player was stopped by border police at the Fernetti crossing near Trieste during a routine check.

Authorities questioned the validity of the driving licence he presented, suggesting there could be irregularities in the document.

Following the inspection, Gueye was reported for allegedly using a falsified licence, and an investigation was opened by the Italian authorities. The case quickly attracted attention as it involved a professional footballer competing in Serie A.

However, developments in the weeks that followed significantly changed the direction of the investigation.

According to information provided by Udinese, the Senegalese Ministry of Transport issued an official certificate confirming that the player’s driving licence was genuine, properly issued and free of any restrictions.

That confirmation has become central to the defence’s case. With the document now validated by the issuing authority, Gueye’s legal representatives have formally submitted a request to the Trieste prosecutor’s office seeking dismissal of the proceedings.

Udinese have also stated that they have cooperated fully with the investigation, providing all necessary documentation to clarify the situation and support the player’s position.

With the Senegalese authorities verifying the licence’s authenticity, the case is now expected to move towards closure in favour of the striker, bringing an end to a matter that had placed him under legal scrutiny in recent months.
