Cameroon international Christian Bassogog could be set to remain in the Saudi Pro League, with reports indicating that Al Khaleej have opened discussions over a potential move for the experienced forward.

Bassogog is approaching the end of his contract with Al Okhdood, which is due to expire on 30 June, making him one of the notable free agents available on the market this summer.

The 29-year-old attacker has reportedly attracted interest from fellow Saudi Pro League side Al Khaleej, who are keen to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. According to reports, negotiations between the two parties are already underway as the club seeks to secure the services of the Cameroonian international.

Al Khaleej are believed to have tabled a two-year contract offer for Bassogog, with the proposed deal reportedly worth around €4 million per year. The financial package underlines the club’s determination to bring the former Africa Cup of Nations winner to their ranks.

Should an agreement be reached, Bassogog would join Al Khaleej on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Al Okhdood. Such a move would represent a significant piece of business for the club, allowing them to acquire an experienced and proven attacker without paying a transfer fee.

Bassogog remains one of Cameroon’s most recognizable footballers, having enjoyed a successful career that has taken him across multiple leagues. Known for his pace, direct running and ability to operate across the frontline, the forward continues to be a valuable asset both at club and international level.

His experience in Saudi Arabian football could also work in Al Khaleej’s favour, as the player is already familiar with the demands and competitive nature of the Saudi Pro League. That familiarity could enable him to make an immediate impact should the transfer be completed.

For Al Khaleej, securing Bassogog’s signature would add quality and experience to their squad as they look to improve on their performances in the upcoming campaign. Meanwhile, the player would have the opportunity to continue his career in a league that has grown significantly in stature and competitiveness in recent years.

While negotiations are still ongoing, all indications suggest that Bassogog could remain in Saudi Arabia beyond this summer, with Al Khaleej emerging as a strong contender to secure his signature ahead of the 2026/27 season.
