Saudi Arabia have called up Al-Shabab winger Hamam Al-Hamami to their training camp in Doha despite previously leaving him out of the squad because of injury.
Head coach Georgios Donis named his final 30-man squad for the current international break on Wednesday. Players carrying injuries were not included in that selection, but the Saudi Football Federation announced on Saturday that Al-Hamami would join the team in Qatar.
The winger has completed a three-week rehabilitation programme at Aspetar sports medicine hospital in Doha. Following discussions with Al-Shabab, it was agreed that he would join Saudi Arabia’s camp to complete the final stage of his recovery under the supervision of the national team’s medical staff.
Saudi Arabia are based in Doha from 9 to 17 November 2026 and will play two international friendlies during the camp. They face South Korea on 13 November before meeting Uzbekistan on 17 November.
Al-Hamami sustained his injury while representing Saudi Arabia at the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup. Saudi Arabia won the tournament after beating United Arab Emirates 2-0 in the final.
The Al-Shabab player made a significant contribution during the competition, scoring in the final against United Arab Emirates and being named player of the tournament.
His inclusion allows him to continue his rehabilitation alongside the national team, although he was not part of the 30 players originally selected by Donis for the international break.
