Saliba loses sleep as Arsenal’s title pressure intensifies

William Saliba has revealed the mental toll of Arsenal’s faltering title push, admitting the weight of expectation is following him even into his sleep as the season approaches a defining stretch.

The Gunners remain firmly in contention at the top of the Premier League, but recent inconsistencies have left their position increasingly fragile.

With Manchester City currently setting the pace, Arsenal face mounting pressure to respond immediately, beginning with a crucial clash against Newcastle United this weekend. Victory would temporarily return Mikel Arteta’s side to the summit, albeit having played a game more than their title rivals.

For Saliba, the stakes have become deeply personal. The French defender acknowledged the psychological strain of chasing major honours, particularly with both the league title and the UEFA Champions League still within reach.

“Even when I sleep, I think about it, when you are close to achieving your dream in the Champions League and Premier League,” he said in an interview with Men in Blazers.

Despite his rapid rise into one of Europe’s most reliable centre-backs, Saliba is yet to secure a major trophy at senior level, a fact that continues to drive his ambition during this high-stakes run-in.

“I haven’t won anything big in my career yet but I will give everything to win the title and the Champions League,” he added.

Arsenal’s recent form has raised concerns about their ability to sustain a title challenge, but the 23-year-old insists the squad remains focused on correcting their shortcomings. He believes the lessons from recent setbacks could yet prove decisive as they attempt to regain momentum.

“The last few games have not been great but we learn and move on to this weekend’s game to change everything.”

With little margin for error, Arsenal’s response against Newcastle could shape the trajectory of their campaign, as Saliba and his teammates attempt to turn restless nights into a long-awaited triumph.
