Barcelona make emphatic Champions League start with 5-1 win over Feyenoord

Barcelona began their UEFA Champions League campaign in commanding fashion as they defeated Feyenoord 5-1 at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday.

The Catalan side took control almost immediately, with Raphinha opening the scoring in the third minute. They extended their advantage through Karim Adeyemi before half-time, then added three more goals after the interval despite Feyenoord briefly reducing the deficit.

Raphinha needed only three minutes to put Barcelona ahead. Lamine Yamal supplied the pass, allowing the Brazilian to take on and beat two defenders before finding the net with his left foot.

Barcelona continued to dictate the game and doubled their lead in the 22nd minute. Adeyemi struck with his right foot from outside the penalty area, leaving the hosts in a strong position as they went into the interval 2-0 ahead.

Feyenoord faced the second half needing a response, but Barcelona quickly re-established their authority. Raphinha scored his second goal of the evening in the 57th minute after being played through by Pedri.

Lamine Yamal then added Barcelona’s fourth goal in the 77th minute, converting from a free-kick as the home side threatened to turn the match into a rout.

Feyenoord did manage to get on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute when Sem Steijn pulled a goal back. However, the Dutch club’s response came after Barcelona had already established a four-goal advantage, and the hosts remained firmly in control.

Barcelona restored their four-goal cushion just three minutes later. Gabriel Jesus headed in the fifth goal of the night from a cross by Yamal, completing a convincing opening victory for Hansi Flick’s side.

The final score was Barcelona 5-1 Feyenoord, giving the Spanish club an ideal start to their European campaign. Raphinha’s early opener set the tone at Spotify Camp Nou, while Adeyemi, Yamal and Gabriel Jesus also contributed to a result that underlined Barcelona’s attacking strength.
