Pyramids FC remain the only team with a perfect record after four rounds of the Egyptian Premier League, while Al Ahly suffered their first setback of the season by drawing 1-1 with Al Mokawloon Al Arab.
The result leaves Pyramids FC alone at the top of the table on 12 points. Their latest victory was a narrow 1-0 win over El Gouna, preserving their 100% record and extending their advantage over the chasing teams.
Al Ahly’s draw saw them slip back to third place on 10 points. They are level on points with Zamalek, who occupy second place, but trail them on goal difference.
Zamalek secured their third consecutive victory by beating Abu Qir Fertilizers 2-0. The result marks a strong recovery for the club after they drew their opening match of the campaign.
The remaining unbeaten run at the top has therefore belonged to Pyramids FC, while the standings have begun to separate the leading sides from those still searching for their first win.
El Gouna, Asyut Petroleum, Smouha and Ghazl El Mahalla have all failed to win any of their opening four matches. Smouha’s start has been particularly difficult, with the club remaining the only side in the competition yet to score a goal.
Smouha were beaten 2-0 by Ceramica Cleopatra in the latest round. Ghazl El Mahalla also suffered defeat, losing 3-1 to National Bank of Egypt.
The fourth round produced several closely fought matches, with six of the 10 fixtures decided by a single goal or ending level.
Al Ittihad defeated Asyut Petroleum 1-0, while Modern Sport edged Wadi Degla 2-1. ENPPI also claimed a 2-1 victory against ZED FC.
Tala’ea El Gaish and El Qanah shared the points after a 1-1 draw. Al Mokawloon Al Arab’s 1-1 draw with Al Ahly provided the biggest result in terms of the title race, ending the defending side’s perfect start to the season.
The round’s other listed result was a 2-1 victory involving Suez SC, Petrojet and Al Masry, as recorded in the fixture list.
