Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has opened up about why Mohamed Salah could not make it at Chelsea.
The Egyptian sensation was at Chelsea between 2014 and 2016 but could not make an impact.
He struggled to play regularly under top manager Jose Mourinho, who had returned to the club for a second spell.
Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel, who was also at the club, has shared his view on why Salah did not make it.
According to him, the Egyptian was not strong enough to survive the Chelsea dressing room.
“Yes, he [Mourinho] can break some players. yes, he can make some players way, way stronger, and the players like Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne and Romelo Lukaku, these great players today that left back then. Yes, he did break them.
“Were they strong enough to be in that dressing room back then? No, they were not strong enough, they were definitely were not strong enough, because if they were strong enough, they would have stayed and made sure they found a way, but they couldn’t handle it,” Obi Mikel shared.
Although Salah’s time at Chelsea was not impressive, he has etched his name in the history books of the English Premier League with his outstanding performances for Liverpool since 2017.
