Romaric Dognimin Ouattara leaves Marumo Gallants for Stade dAbidjan

Former Marumo Gallants striker Romaric Dognimin Ouattara has ended his brief spell with the South African club by returning to Ivory Coast and joining Stade d’Abidjan on a two-year contract.

The 21-year-old spent only six months with Marumo Gallants, also known as Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, after moving to the club in January from Algerian side Olympique Akbou. He was unable to score during his time in South Africa, making five appearances for the club.

Ouattara confirmed his return to his home country in an interview with Soccer Laduma.

“Yes, that’s correct. I’m back home,” he said.

His move to Stade d’Abidjan will keep him at the six-time Ivorian champions until June 2028. The agreement gives the forward the opportunity to continue his career in Ivory Coast after a short and unsuccessful stint with Marumo Gallants.

Ouattara joined Marumo Gallants midway through the season from Olympique Akbou, but he did not find the net in any of the five matches in which he played. His departure comes at the end of the campaign, with the striker now returning to a club in his home country.

He is one of several foreign players to leave Marumo Gallants at the conclusion of the season. Ibrahim Bance also departed, while Mohamed Doumbia left after completing his loan spell from Young Africans.

The move brings an end to Ouattara’s time with Marumo Gallants after just six months. Although his stay was brief, his next contract has already been secured, with Stade d’Abidjan committing to the striker for the next two years.

His return to Ivory Coast also means he will continue his career with one of the country’s most successful clubs. Stade d’Abidjan have won six Ivorian championships and will now have Ouattara available under a deal that runs through June 2028.

For Marumo Gallants, the change forms part of a wider departure of overseas players after the season. Ouattara, Bance and Doumbia are all no longer part of the club’s squad, although Doumbia’s exit follows the expiry of his loan from Young Africans.

Ouattara’s six-month spell began with his arrival from Olympique Akbou in January and ended without a goal in five appearances. He will now try to restart his career at Stade d’Abidjan, having confirmed that he is back in Ivory Coast.
