Romaric Amoussou announces departure from Coton FC
Romaric Amoussou has officially confirmed his departure from Coton FC, marking the end of a significant chapter in his career with the Beninese club. The announcement was made on the night of July 24-25 via his Facebook page.
In his farewell message, Amoussou reflected on his successful three-year tenure with Coton FC, the reigning three-time champions of the Benin Premier League.
“After three wonderful years, it is time to say goodbye. I will not forget everything you have given me. The three Benin championship titles and all the great things accomplished together,” he wrote.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder expressed gratitude towards the club’s staff, particularly head coach Victor Zvunka, for their role in his development.
He also extended thanks to the club’s management, his teammates, and the supporters for their unwavering support.
“From the bottom of my heart, I salute the devotion of the staff with coach Victor Zvunka at its head who came to get me and allowed me to progress. I also thank the club management who spared no effort for my well-being.
My teammates for all the good times on and off the field. To all the supporters of Ouidah and elsewhere for their constant support, you will always be in my heart. Enan Tchê Nou Mi. THANK YOU COTON FC, Tchigan club,” he added.
Amoussou’s next destination appears to be ASEC Mimosas. The former Atlantic Sharks player, who began his career at the Abi Sports Academy, has been training with the Ivorian giants since July 5.
Reports suggest that he is set to finalize his contract with ASEC Mimosas in the coming days. If confirmed, this move will mark Amoussou’s first professional experience outside Benin.
During his final season with Coton FC, Amoussou showcased his talent by scoring nine goals and providing six assists across all competitions.
Known for his versatility, he is capable of playing as a left winger, right winger, or playmaker, and his move to ASEC Mimosas is anticipated to further his career development.
The transfer reflects a promising new chapter for Amoussou as he steps onto a larger stage in African football.
