Fenerbahce host Liverpool in Istanbul on Wednesday in a Champions League meeting between two teams whose campaigns have taken sharply different directions.
The Turkish club are under significant pressure following the resignation of manager Ismail Kartal. Former Liverpool favourite Dirk Kuyt has taken temporary charge of the Istanbul side and will face his former club from the dugout.
Fenerbahce have collected only two points from their opening three matches and are still waiting for their first European victory of the season. Their position is in marked contrast to Liverpool’s, with the Reds having won all three of their games to establish themselves comfortably among the leaders in the league phase.
The match is expected to be played in a fierce atmosphere at Chobani Stadyumu, where Fenerbahce will attempt to keep their European campaign alive against one of the competition’s leading contenders.
French referee Clement Turpin will officiate the match, which will be broadcast live in France on DAZN.
