Roma announce signing of Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid

Roma have announced the signing of Argentina international Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid, with the Italian club confirming the move on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

Atletico Madrid also confirmed Molina’s departure and thanked the 28-year-old for his contribution during his four seasons with the Spanish side.

“Thank you, Nahuel, for all the work and professionalism you have shown over the past years defending our shirt,” Atletico said.

The club added: “We wish you all the best and every success in the next stage of your professional and personal journey.”

Molina’s move to Roma follows a reduction in his role at Atletico Madrid. The Spanish club had increasingly relied on Marcos Llorente at right-back, limiting Molina’s involvement after four seasons at the Metropolitano Stadium.

The Argentina right-back joined Atletico in the summer of 2022 from Udinese. During his time with the club, he made 181 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 17 assists.

Molina leaves after an important period both at club and international level. While he was an Atletico player, he helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa America.

His transfer to Roma brings an end to his spell with Atletico’s red-and-white team and gives the Italian club an experienced option at right-back. Roma’s announcement completes the latest step in Molina’s career after his development in Italy with Udinese and his subsequent move to Spain.

Atletico’s message made clear that the club viewed Molina’s time in Madrid positively, praising his work and professionalism rather than providing details of the transfer agreement. Neither club’s announcement included information about the fee or the length of Molina’s contract.
