Robin Quaison joins Rinkeby Utd FC as Swedish-Ghanaian forward leaves Gulf United

Swedish-Ghanaian centre-forward Robin Quaison has joined Rinkeby Utd FC from Gulf United FC on a free transfer.

The move was completed on 1 September 2026, bringing the 32-year-old back to Sweden after a spell in the United Arab Emirates. Quaison becomes part of Rinkeby’s attacking group after leaving Gulf United, where he had arrived as a free agent earlier in 2026.

Quaison joined Gulf United on 4 February after a period without a club. His time there followed a series of moves across European and Middle Eastern football, including spells with Aris Saloniki, Al-Ettifaq and Mainz.

The forward began his senior career with AIK, having progressed through the club’s youth system. He also spent time with FC Vasby United before returning to AIK, and moved to Italy in 2014 when he joined US Palermo for €2m.

Quaison transferred to Mainz from Palermo in January 2017 for €2.5m. He later left the German club for Al-Ettifaq on a free transfer in July 2021, ending a period in which he had established himself in European football.

After leaving Al-Ettifaq in July 2024, Quaison joined Aris Saloniki in September that year. He departed the Greek club in August 2025 and was subsequently without a club until his move to Gulf United.

At international level, Quaison was part of Sweden’s European Under-21 Championship-winning side in 2015. He was born in Stockholm and stands 1.83m tall, while his preferred position is centre-forward and his stronger foot is his right.

The transfer gives Rinkeby a forward with experience at clubs in Sweden, Italy, Germany, Greece, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Quaison’s move to Rinkeby Utd FC was completed as a free transfer on 1 September 2026.
