Red Arrows urged to show no fear against Kaizer Chiefs

A passionate Zambian supporter has called on Red Arrows to embrace the challenge of facing Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Confederation Cup and urged fans across the country to fill Levy Mwanawasa Stadium for Saturday’s first-leg tie.

The Zambian side will host Amakhosi in Ndola in the second preliminary round, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00. The winners over the two legs will move closer to securing a place in the competition’s group stages.

Red Arrows progressed after eliminating Madagascar’s FC Rouge in the previous round. They won both matches 2-0 to complete a 4-0 aggregate victory and earn a meeting with the Soweto club.

Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, entered the second preliminary round after receiving a bye in the opening stage.

Ahead of the match, Kenneth Lungu, a well-known Zambian football fan also known as Magrossa, appealed for widespread backing for Red Arrows.

“Hello Zambia, this is Kenneth Lungu, popularly known as Magrossa, soccer fan number one in Zambia,” he said in a video posted by the club.

“As Arrows are playing against Kaizer Chiefs at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, I’m encouraging all supporters all over Zambia to turn up in numbers to support Red Arrows.

“We all know Arrows is the only team that represents Zambia on the continent.

“So, my encouragement to Red Arrows is to go and represent us well on the continent. Let’s not fear them.

“My advice to Red Arrows is to go and play for a win, and all the best to Red Arrows Football Club.”

The supporters’ message comes as Red Arrows prepare to take advantage of home conditions before the return match in South Africa.

The second leg will be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium, where Red Arrows will attempt to complete the tie and advance to the group stages.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the fixture provides another chance to make progress in continental competition. Their first task will be to secure a positive result in Ndola before the decisive return meeting.
