Pyramids promise Rulani Mokwena January signings after perfect start

Pyramids FC have reportedly promised head coach Rulani Mokwena new signings in the January transfer window following the club’s impressive start to the 2026/27 season.

The South African has enjoyed a remarkable beginning to his spell in charge, guiding the Egyptian side to 14 victories from 14 matches across all competitions.

Pyramids currently sit top of the Egyptian Premier League table and have also secured qualification for the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

Despite their strong form, the club’s management is keen to strengthen the squad as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts during the second half of the campaign.

According to Egyptian publication Gate Ahram, Pyramids’ hierarchy has assured Mokwena that funds will be made available to bring in new players when the January transfer window opens.

The report indicates that the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach wants to reinforce all three departments of his squad, with additions being considered in defence, midfield and attack.

Modern Sport striker Mahmoud Mamdouh is reportedly among Pyramids’ leading targets. The forward has scored eight goals in the Egyptian Premier League this season, making him the division’s leading scorer.

Pyramids are also exploring options outside Egypt as they seek to add more firepower to their attack.

Croatian-based forward Asas Hamlawi is reportedly among the players being considered as the club assesses potential targets ahead of the mid-season transfer window.

Mokwena’s side will hope that further investment in the squad can help sustain their impressive form and strengthen their chances of winning domestic and continental honours this season.
