Real Madrid to keep squad unchanged as summer transfer window closes

Real Madrid will not make any further signings before the summer transfer window shuts, despite continued speculation linking the Spanish club with reinforcements in midfield and central defence.

According to Tribuna, citing respected journalist Jose Felix Diaz, the club have decided against pursuing additional late deals. The decision brings an end to the possibility of more incoming transfers after a busy summer at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid had been considering whether to add another midfielder to their squad, while also examining the option of signing a left-footed centre-back. Alessandro Bastoni had previously been identified as the club’s preferred target to strengthen the defence.

However, neither position will be reinforced before the transfer deadline.

The decision means Real Madrid will begin the new campaign with the players already brought in during the summer. The club have completed several high-profile deals, including the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries and Yan Diomande.

Diomande has become the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history after joining in a deal which could eventually be worth up to 140m euros.

The club have also completed the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Sergio Martinez from Racing Santander. He had initially been expected to continue his development with Castilla, Real Madrid’s reserve team, but the transfer has now been completed.

Although there are no plans for further additions, the squad could still see some departures before the market closes.

Eduardo Camavinga has attracted interest from clubs in the Premier League, but the midfielder has so far resisted the possibility of leaving Real Madrid. Raul Asencio has also been made available for transfer, although he remains hesitant about departing Spain.

Real Madrid’s decision comes despite the club having been linked with movements in two areas of the team. The potential arrival of another midfielder had been discussed, while Bastoni’s profile had made him the leading option for a left-footed central defender.

Neither of those moves will now take place before the deadline, leaving the club to work with its existing group following a summer in which it has already invested heavily in the squad.

The latest position also provides clarity over the club’s plans in the final stages of the window. While Real Madrid may still have to consider offers for players, particularly Camavinga and Asencio, there will be no further additions to the first-team squad before the summer market closes.

The club’s transfer activity has therefore reached its conclusion, with Diomande’s potential 140m-euro fee making him the headline arrival and Sergio Martinez representing a further investment in midfield.
