Real Madrid make improved €140m offer for Leipzig winger Yan Diomande

Real Madrid have made an improved offer worth up to €140m for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to Sky Sport, as they attempt to agree a deal for the Cote d’Ivoire international.

The proposal consists of an initial €125m payment, with a further €15m available in add-ons. Leipzig previously rejected an offer of €100m for the player, who has a contract with the German club until the summer of 2030.

Leipzig are understood to be holding out for €130m before agreeing to sell Diomande. Real Madrid’s latest bid therefore takes the guaranteed fee close to the figure requested by the Bundesliga club, while the additional €15m would depend on bonuses being achieved.

Leganes would also receive 5% of the transfer fee if the move goes through. That payment is due to a clause in Diomande’s contract allowing his former club to benefit from any future sale.

If completed, the transfer would make the Ivorian the most expensive sale in Leipzig’s history. He would move above Josko Gvardiol, who joined Manchester City during the 2023-24 season for €90m.

Diomande would also become the fourth most expensive player in Real Madrid’s history, behind Jude Bellingham, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale.

The winger has made 36 appearances for Leipzig, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists. He also represented Cote d’Ivoire at the 2026 World Cup, playing in four matches and setting up one goal.

The proposed deal would represent another major investment by Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. The Spanish club have officially completed five signings so far: Marc Cucurella, Carlos Espi, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate.

Jose Mourinho has taken charge of Real Madrid following Alvaro Arbeloa’s departure as head coach. The club will begin their La Liga campaign against Espanyol on 22 August, with kick-off scheduled for 22:30 Cairo time.

Diomande’s contract length gives Leipzig a strong negotiating position, but Real Madrid’s decision to increase their offer from €100m underlines their determination to complete the transfer. The German side’s €130m valuation remains the key point of difference between the two clubs, with the latest proposal now offering a potential total of €140m.
