Real Madrid in advanced talks to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig as negotiations roll on

Real Madrid have emerged as front-runners to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, with negotiations between the two clubs described as active but still short of a final agreement.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, long monitored by Paris Saint-Germain, is now more likely to move to the Bernabeu than to Paris, according to the latest discussions reported in Germany. Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg says fresh talks between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig took place today but have not yet produced a complete deal.

All parties involved are said to confirm that discussions are ongoing and progressing, with the Spanish club pushing hard to close the transfer.

Talks to resume if no late breakthrough

Unless there is a dramatic late twist before midnight, negotiations are expected to resume on Friday morning. Real Madrid’s hierarchy are reported to be working intensively to finalise the move before the end of the week.

The transfer is described as very much “alive”, with the Spanish club determined to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig. However, no details have yet emerged on potential transfer fees, structure of the deal or contract terms in Madrid.

While Real Madrid now lead the race, Paris Saint-Germain’s long-standing interest underlines the high regard in which Diomande is held across Europe’s elite clubs.

Diomande training under adapted programme

As talks continued, Diomande remained in Leipzig today and took part in training. RB Leipzig staff oversaw a personalised training plan designed to reduce the risk of injury while his future is being negotiated.

The approach reflects the delicate nature of the situation for both club and player, with any setback potentially jeopardising a transfer that remains in play.

Long contract and high valuation

Diomande is under contract with RB Leipzig until 30 June 2030, giving the German club a strong position in negotiations. The forward’s annual salary at Leipzig is reported to be €750,000 (487,500,000 FCFA).

His market value is estimated at €90m, a figure which, if approached in talks, would place him among the more expensive signings in recent windows.

Despite the lack of a final agreement, all sides are said to be aligned on continuing negotiations in the coming days, with Real Madrid intent on completing a deal for the highly rated teenager.
