RB Leipzig step aside in Zadok Yohanna race
RB Leipzig have pulled out of the race to sign Zadok Yohanna, leaving Brighton & Hove Albion in a strong position to complete the deal.
The 18-year-old AIK Fotboll attacker had been on Leipzig’s radar for some time, but the Bundesliga club now consider him too expensive.
The German side had followed Yohanna closely and saw him as one of the most exciting young talents in Sweden. However, financial demands have forced Leipzig to step back, opening the door for other clubs to move ahead.
Brighton are now reportedly pushing hardest to land the Nigerian forward, with the Premier League club continuing active talks. That development could make life difficult for Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, who were also said to be monitoring him.
Yohanna’s rise has been backed up by strong numbers this season. In just 10 competitive appearances, he has scored two goals and provided three assists, underlining why he is attracting major interest.
AIK remain in a strong bargaining position too, with the teenager under contract until December 31, 2029. Unless a club is willing to meet the asking price, Leipzig’s withdrawal may be only the first sign of a wider transfer battle cooling down.
