Rangers FC striker Abdallah Sima is set for a temporary absence from the pitch after sustaining an injury during Sunday’s match against Heart of Midlothian FC, with his recovery expected to take “a few weeks,” according to manager Philippe Clement.
The 22-year-old Senegalese forward, who recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, suffered a setback during the semi-final clash of the Scottish Cup, prompting his substitution just 15 minutes into the game due to discomfort in his right thigh.
Manager Philippe Clement addressed the situation during a press conference on Friday, confirming Sima’s absence from upcoming fixtures and expressing hope for his return before the conclusion of the season.
“Sima will be absent for a few weeks,” Clement stated, highlighting the striker’s determination to recover swiftly. “I hope to see him again this season.
He is very motivated for that,” Clement added, underscoring Sima’s eagerness to contribute to the team’s success.
Sima’s injury comes as a setback for both the player and Rangers FC, as the talented striker has been a key figure in the team’s campaign, boasting an impressive record of 16 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions this season.
Despite the setback, Rangers FC remain focused on their objectives, with a Scottish Cup final showdown against Celtic looming on the horizon.
Additionally, the Light Blues are still in contention for the Championship title, trailing their rivals by a mere three points with five matches remaining.
While Sima’s absence presents a challenge for Rangers FC, the team remains optimistic about their prospects and is determined to maintain their momentum as they strive for success on multiple fronts in the remainder of the season.
Abdallah Sima out for a ‘couple of weeks’. Clement hopes to have him back this season. Rabbi Matondo doubtful. Ridvan Yilmaz and Ryan Jack back in training next week.
