Racing Santander details loan acquisition of Egyptian youngster Bilal Attia
Racing Santander director of international relations Omar Nael has disclosed details surrounding the loan agreement for young Al Ahly SC talent Bilal Attia during the current summer transfer window.
Speaking to ON Sport FM, Nael highlighted the Spanish club’s growing interest in emerging African talent while confirming that the 18-year-old midfielder has already arrived in Spain to continue his rehabilitation and integration process with the club.
“Egypt is full of talent, the only problem is talent management, and we have interest in any talent that appears in the world,” Nael said, stressing Racing Santander’s commitment to scouting promising players from across the globe.
He confirmed that Bilal Attia travelled to Spain on Wednesday and is currently continuing his recovery programme under close supervision from both Al Ahly’s medical staff and Racing Santander’s medical department.
Nael added that the player has already shown encouraging progress following treatment in Egypt, and further medical evaluations are scheduled to assess his readiness ahead of pre-season preparations, which are set to begin on July 10.
He also revealed that Bilal Attia underwent a full medical assessment prior to signing the deal, ensuring all parties had a clear understanding of his condition before finalising the agreement.
According to Nael, the agreement is structured as a one-year loan deal with an option to extend for an additional season, depending on the player’s development and recovery progress. He noted that a long-term development plan has been put in place with the aim of gradually preparing the youngster for potential promotion to the first team.
Nael declined to disclose financial details of the agreement, stating that such matters remain under the responsibility of Al Ahly.
Bilal Attia, 18, is regarded as one of the promising talents from Al Ahly’s youth system. He had previously attracted attention during trials in Germany with clubs such as Stuttgart and Hannover before securing his move to Spain.
