Queens Park Rangers (QPR) are working to secure the services of Senegalese forward, Pape Meïssa Ba.
The English Championship side is currently in advanced talks to recruit the attacker from German Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
Ba only joined Schalke in January after a prolific spell in France, but could now be set for another move just six months into his Bundesliga 2 stint.
Before his switch to Germany, the 28-year-old was in red-hot form for Grenoble Foot 38, where he finished the first half of the 2023/24 Ligue 2 season as top scorer with 13 goals in 18 appearances. His performances quickly attracted international attention, leading to his mid-season transfer.
Talks between QPR and the player’s representatives are progressing well, with hopes high that an agreement can be reached soon.
The move comes as the London club seeks to reshape its squad under newly appointed head coach Julien Stéphan, formerly of Rennes and Strasbourg.
A graduate of Senegalese side AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur, Ba has also played for ESTAC Troyes and Red Star FC, where he emerged as top scorer in the French third division before rising to prominence in Ligue 2.
QPR are hoping to get the deal over the line in the coming days.
