Pyramids secures Egyptian Cup for second time in history
Pyramids FC have further cemented their growing reputation in African and Egyptian football after clinching the 2025–2026 Egypt Cup title with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over ZED FC in the final played on Sunday, 10 May.
The win adds another prestigious trophy to the club’s cabinet, coming just months after their continental breakthrough in the CAF Champions League. It marks a defining period in the club’s short but rapidly rising history, as they continue to challenge the traditional powerhouses of Egyptian football.
The final itself was a tense and competitive affair, with both sides showing intent from the opening whistle. Pyramids FC, however, demonstrated their growing maturity on the big stage, combining tactical discipline with clinical finishing when it mattered most.
Mostafa Fathi Hafez opened the scoring, setting the tone for what would become a statement performance. His goal injected confidence into Pyramids, who began to dictate the rhythm of the game with greater control in midfield and sharper transitions in attack.
ZED FC refused to go quietly, responding with pressure of their own and eventually finding a breakthrough to level the contest. For a moment, the final appeared finely balanced, with momentum shifting and tension rising inside the stadium.
But Pyramids FC showed why they are now regarded as one of the most formidable sides in the region. Fiston Mayele delivered the decisive blow, restoring the lead and ultimately sealing the cup with a composed finish that underlined his reputation as a big-game performer.
From there, Pyramids managed the closing stages with composure, shutting down ZED’s attempts to mount a late comeback and seeing out a victory that sparked celebrations both on the pitch and among their growing fanbase.
This triumph represents only the second Egypt Cup title in the club’s history, yet it carries the weight of a much larger statement. Back-to-back success on both domestic and continental fronts signals a shift in the balance of power, with Pyramids increasingly establishing themselves as a dominant force rather than a challenger.
Coming off their continental success in the CAF Champions League, the Egyptian Cup win reinforces the club’s ambition and long-term project. It reflects not just investment and talent, but also a developing winning mentality that is now translating into silverware.
As the celebrations continue, Pyramids FC will be aware that expectations are rising rapidly. What was once seen as a project for the future is now delivering in the present—and the rest of Egyptian football is taking notice.
