Pyramids FC sign Algeria striker Nadir Benbouali as fourth summer arrival
Pyramids FC have completed the signing of Algeria striker Nadir Benbouali from Hungarian club Gyor Torna Osztaly, making him the Egyptian side’s fourth addition of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old forward has agreed a three-year contract with Pyramids FC, with the club holding the option to extend the deal by a further season. His move had previously been reported by FilGoal.com, which revealed that the player had signed the formal transfer documents.
Pyramids FC announced the arrival with a presentation video carrying the message: “The Algerian warrior… has arrived in the land of the pyramids.”
Benbouali has been recruited to strengthen the attack following the departure of Fiston Mayele, who left Pyramids FC at the end of last season. The Algerian spent the previous campaign with Gyor Torna Osztaly after joining the Hungarian club from Belgian side Charleroi.
He made 41 appearances for the Hungarian team and finished that spell with 19 goals and six assists. However, Benbouali has not featured in a match since the beginning of the current season.
His transfer is the latest in a series of moves by Pyramids FC, following the arrivals of Ahmed Abdelkader, Eyad El-Askalany and Khaled Awad. Benbouali therefore becomes the fourth new player confirmed by the club during the current summer recruitment period.
Pyramids FC ended last season by winning the Egypt Cup, while they finished second in the Egyptian league standings. Their performances have also secured a place in the CAF Champions League for the coming campaign.
The club will begin the new domestic season against Ghazl El Mahalla on Saturday, 22 August, in the opening round of the league. Benbouali’s arrival gives Pyramids FC another attacking option as they prepare for a schedule that will include both domestic competition and continental football.
The Algerian forward arrives with a record of regular involvement and significant goal production in Hungary, although he will first need to establish his place in a Pyramids FC squad that has already added three other players during the transfer window. His contract runs until the end of three seasons, subject to the possibility of a further one-year extension.
