Chelsea will once again be without Samuel Eto’o as they gear up to face Stoke City this Saturday in the 33rd round of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
Eto’o, the Blues’ striker, remains sidelined due to an injury sustained on March 22 during Chelsea’s triumph over Arsenal (6-0). Nursing a hamstring injury, the Cameroonian has already missed the recent Champions League quarter-final first leg against PSG. José Mourinho is hopeful for his swift recovery ahead of the return leg slated for Tuesday.
In addition to Eto’o, Nigerian midfielder Obi Mikel will also be absent for the clash against Stoke.
This upcoming fixture holds more significance for Chelsea than meets the eye. Following their defeat to Crystal Palace (1-0), which saw them slip behind Liverpool in the Premier League standings, the Blues understand the importance of reclaiming their position. Currently trailing Liverpool by two points, José Mourinho’s side faces a tough challenge against both Liverpool and Manchester City in the title race.
