Leicester City striker Patson Daka has been recalled to Zambia’s senior national football team ahead of their upcoming international friendlies against Tunisia and Sudan.
The forward’s return to the Chipolopolo squad marks a significant boost, as he had been sidelined since last year due to injury.
Zambia’s head coach, Avram Grant, has named a 25-player roster for the June fixtures, with Daka among those selected to bolster the attack.
His return is expected to add firepower and experience to the team as they prepare for crucial competitive matches ahead.
However, the squad list also features some notable absences. Saudi Arabia-based striker Fashion Sakala remains excluded following a fallout with Grant.
Additionally, Italy-based midfielder Lameck Banda and defender Franck Musonda, who plays for Scottish club Ayr United, have not been included.
The upcoming friendlies are seen as vital preparation for Zambia’s FIFA World Cup qualification campaign. T
he team is also mindful of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, and these matches will offer a valuable opportunity to fine-tune tactics and assess player readiness.
The Football Association of Zambia has yet to confirm the specific dates and venues for the warm-up games.
However, the friendlies are scheduled to take place within the FIFA international window, which falls in early to mid-June 2025.
