Axel Disasi has opened up about how his move to West Ham has positively transformed his mindset and fitness, following a challenging six-month spell at Chelsea where he was sidelined among the club’s unwanted players

“I feel good, both mentally and physically. Getting back on the field helps me tremendously to thrive,” Axel Disasi said about his new life at West Ham, after spending six difficult months in Chelsea’s group of unwanted players.

The French defender admits many people doubted him, especially his physical condition, and that makes his current form feel even more satisfying.

“Some people had concerns about my return, but it feels good to show them they were wrong and that the doubts about my physical condition were pure speculation. I’ve grown tremendously over the past six months.” He explains that he is now stronger, above all mentally, and that this experience has changed the way he sees football and life.

Disasi also opened up about the questions that crossed his mind during his exile at Chelsea: why this was happening to him, whether he would return, and if he would find a club matching his ambitions. Those doubts only lasted “two or three weeks” before he chose to move forward and conserve his energy. Now a nailed-on starter at West Ham, he has become a key figure in their Premier League survival fight and feels more serene and confident than ever.
