Paris Saint-Germain weigh Abdessamad Ezzalzouli move after Kvaratskhelia injury

Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Real Betis winger Abdessamad Ezzalzouli as they look for attacking reinforcements following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s long-term injury.

The Georgia international has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee and is expected to be out until the end of the season. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, citing journalist Ekrem Konur, Ezzalzouli is among the options being assessed by the French club ahead of the winter transfer window.

Any deal could also provide Barcelona with a financial return. The Catalan club retained a 20% sell-on clause when Ezzalzouli left for Real Betis, meaning a substantial transfer fee would bring Barcelona a significant share.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be examining the possibility carefully because of the likely cost involved. Real Betis are not expected to allow the Morocco winger to leave easily, having placed a €55m valuation on him during the previous summer transfer window.

That figure is close to the release clause in Ezzalzouli’s contract, which is worth about €60m. Should he move for €55m, Barcelona would receive approximately €11m under the terms of the agreement reached when he departed the club.

Previous Premier League interest

Ezzalzouli joined Real Betis from Barcelona in September 2023 for €7.5m. Barcelona’s retained 20% share of any future transfer income has ensured that his situation continues to attract attention at the club.

Paris Saint-Germain are not the first side to have considered signing the 24-year-old. Aston Villa and Newcastle United also monitored him during the previous summer window and explored the possibility of bringing him in.

Ezzalzouli ultimately chose to remain with Real Betis, where he has become an important part of manager Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

His growing importance followed an impressive campaign in which he scored 15 goals and supplied 13 assists in 43 matches. He has also made a positive start to the 2026-2027 season, scoring three goals in seven La Liga appearances and adding another goal in two UEFA Champions League matches.

That form, combined with Kvaratskhelia’s absence, has placed Ezzalzouli on Paris Saint-Germain’s list of potential attacking targets. However, Real Betis’ asking price and the player’s release clause could prove decisive if the French club decides to pursue the transfer.
