Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye has set his sights on winning the African Ballon d’Or, saying the award is among his career objectives.
The Senegal international believes the honour recognises the sustained effort required over an entire season and is determined to keep improving with both his club and national team.
“The African Ballon d’Or was one of my objectives. It is an award that recognises the hard work of a season, and I am doing everything I can to improve every day so that I can reach that level of excellence with my club and my national team,” Gueye said.
His performances in European football and for Senegal’s Lions of the Teranga have strengthened his position as a credible contender for the prestigious continental award.
