Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi opened up about the tough choices he had to make to put settle on his final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The coach has acknowledged that several players missed out on the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but stressed that many of them remain part of his long-term plans for the national team.

Ouahbi made the comments during the press conference where he officially announced Morocco’s final squad for the tournament set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

“Of course, some players will be called up and others will not. But what I take away from this camp is that I saw ready players, God willing, to represent Morocco in the near future,” Ouabi said.

Ouahbi Highlights Strength of Morocco’s Talent Pool

The Morocco coach explained that players left out of the World Cup squad could still receive opportunities with the Atlas Lions in future international windows and competitions.

He noted that Morocco currently possesses a large number of talented players competing for places in the national team, something he believes is positive for the country’s football development.

At the same time, Ouahbi admitted that the abundance of quality options also makes selection decisions far more difficult for the coaching staff.

“But now we’re happy. We have our 26, and we’re heading to the World Cup with a lot of ambition,” he said.

Ouahbi also praised the attitude and professionalism displayed by the players throughout the preparatory camp.

According to the coach, the squad demonstrated strong discipline, intensity, and respect during training sessions as preparations intensified ahead of the tournament.

“We were very satisfied. I want to thank and congratulate the players for this camp. We had a really, really good camp.”

Bouaddi Proud to Represent Morocco

Among the players attracting attention is Ayyoub Bouaddi, who recently committed his international future to Morocco instead of France.

The young midfielder expressed pride at being selected for the Atlas Lions squad and described the opportunity as a dream come true.

“A dream come true, but above all, the start of a new chapter, with even more work, rigour, and responsibilities,” he said.

Bouaddi also emphasised the importance of representing Morocco on the world stage.

“I will give everything to represent my country in the best possible way,” he added.
