Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has made it clear that he will not publicly reveal the tactical approach the Atlas Lions plan to use at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking during Tuesday’s press conference, the Morocco manager insisted that keeping certain tactical details private is essential ahead of the tournament, especially with opponents closely studying his team.

“Should I call Ancelotti to ask him how Brazil will play? I don’t think he would tell me, and I won’t reveal mine either,” Ouahbi joked.

“Opponents will study us carefully, and they will study me too,” he added.

Flexible Tactical Approach Preferred

Ouahbi explained that he does not believe in rigid formations and instead prefers a flexible system that allows players to adapt to different situations during matches.

“I like hybrid positioning and tactical variety. I don’t want a team stuck in one plan,” the coach said.

“I want players who know how to suffer when needed, avoid random mistakes, and attack with purpose when the moment comes.”

According to the 51-year-old tactician, adaptability and decision-making will be crucial for Morocco against elite opposition at the World Cup.

Morocco’s New Identity Taking Shape

The Morocco coach revealed that the team’s recent friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay provide a clearer picture of the football philosophy he wants to implement.

Ouahbi stated that the Atlas Lions under his leadership will look different compared to the team seen during the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We are not the same staff as before, and our approach is different. What we showed against Ecuador and Paraguay is closer to what we want now,” he explained.

Balance Against Different Opponents

Ouahbi stressed that Morocco must remain tactically intelligent depending on the opponent rather than relying on one aggressive or defensive style.

“Our goal is to be effective. Playing Brazil does not mean defending for 90 minutes, and facing Scotland or Haiti does not mean attacking recklessly,” he said.

“Brazil are very dangerous if you give them space. I want a team prepared for every possible scenario.”

The Moroccan manager believes maintaining tactical balance will be one of the keys to navigating a difficult Group C.

Morocco’s World Cup Schedule Confirmed

Morocco will compete in Group C at the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.

The Atlas Lions will begin their campaign against Brazil on June 13 at MetLife Stadium before facing Scotland on June 19 at Gillette Stadium.

Their final group-stage match will come against Haiti on June 24 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Morocco’s final pre-World Cup training camp is scheduled to begin on May 29, with the full squad set to gather ahead of the tournament.
