Nelson Egah, the young striker of Togolese descent, has completed a notable transfer during the summer window, leaving the Netherlands for Belgium. The 19-year-old, who was trained at Dutch football giants Ajax and AZ Alkmaar, has signed with Royal Antwerp, where he will initially feature in the club’s under-21 squad.
Egah’s move to Royal Antwerp has generated interest, and Ouadja Lantame, a prominent figure in Togolese football, recently shared his thoughts on the transfer.
Speaking on 228foot, Lantame expressed optimism about the young forward’s prospects at the Belgian club, citing the club’s player development program as beneficial to Egah’s growth.
“It’s a challenge that could be profitable for him,” Lantame remarked. “He seems to have a clear path in terms of player management, and for a young player like him, that’s invaluable.
This kind of environment will help him improve quickly and aim to secure a spot, first in the youth squad and then, hopefully, in the senior team.”
The transition from Dutch to Belgian football presents a new set of challenges for Egah, but Lantame is confident that the move aligns well with the young player’s ambitions.
He emphasized the importance of adapting to Antwerp’s system and using this platform to continue his development.
“This move can also benefit the Togolese youth national team,” Lantame added, suggesting that Egah’s rise through the ranks at Royal Antwerp could eventually lead to contributions on the international stage for Togo’s youth squads.
As Royal Antwerp continues their season, with their next match against KVC Westerlo approaching, all eyes will be on how Egah integrates into his new surroundings.
The opportunity to develop within the framework of a club like Antwerp, which boasts a strong tradition in Belgian football, could be pivotal in shaping his career trajectory.
Egah’s future at Antwerp is filled with potential, and under the club’s structured development program, the 19-year-old will aim to make a name for himself both domestically and, in time, internationally.
