Karim Benzema linked with Leverkusen move after leaving Al-Hilal

French-Algerian forward Karim Benzema, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

The rumour, dated 14 September, carries a 25% probability, with no agreement or transfer fee reported. Benzema left Al-Hilal on 31 August, having joined the Saudi club from Al-Ittihad in February 2026.

The 38-year-old has made three appearances in the 2026-27 Saudi season, scoring once, including two league appearances and one outing in the King’s Cup. He was named Saudi Pro League Player of the Year in 2024-25 and won the Saudi Cup twice during his time in the country.

Benzema began his senior career at Lyon before moving to Real Madrid in 2009 for €35m. He spent 14 years with the Spanish club, winning the Ballon d’Or in 2022 and five Champions League titles, before moving to Saudi Arabia.

His most prolific season at Real Madrid came in 2021-22, when he scored 27 La Liga goals and 15 in the Champions League as the club won both competitions. He also won the UEFA Nations League with France in 2021.

Benzema is currently unattached following his departure from Al-Hilal, while Leverkusen are the club named in the latest Bundesliga transfer rumour.
