Marouane Afaker: Dutch-Moroccan winger joins Spakenburg as a free agent

Dutch-Moroccan winger Marouane Afaker has joined Spakenburg as a free agent, strengthening the Tweede Divisie club’s attacking options. The 27-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027.

Afaker arrives after leaving FC Dordrecht, where he spent the second half of the 2024-25 season. He moved to Dordrecht from IJsselmeervogels on 22 January 2025 and remained with the club until his contract ended on 30 June 2026.

The Rotterdam-born forward operates primarily on the left wing and is naturally right-footed. Standing at 1.68m, he brings experience of Dutch professional and semi-professional football to Spakenburg, who play in the country’s Tweede Divisie.

Afaker has made 93 appearances in the Tweede Divisie, scoring 35 goals and providing 14 assists. He has also contributed 21 goals and 19 assists in 52 Derde Divisie A appearances, while his record includes 36 matches in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and one Eredivisie appearance.

His previous clubs include IJsselmeervogels, FC Dordrecht, TOP Oss, Sparta’s under-21 side and Katwijk. He joined TOP Oss from Sparta U21 in July 2022 before moving to IJsselmeervogels on a free transfer six months later.

Afaker began his senior career with Katwijk after coming through the youth system at Excelsior, where he progressed from the club’s academy to its under-19 side. He has also played in the KNVB Beker, recording four goals and four assists in 12 appearances.

The move to Spakenburg was completed on 14 September 2026, with Afaker now tied to the Tweede Divisie club through the end of June 2027.
