Orlando Pirates beat TS Galaxy to extend unbeaten Betway Premiership run

Orlando Pirates continued their unbeaten defence of the Betway Premiership title with a 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers took the lead in the 18th minute when Boitumelo Radiopane completed a flowing team move with a close-range finish.

TS Galaxy came close to an equaliser through Sedwyn George, who created space inside the 18-yard area with a series of twists and turns. His eventual effort, however, was blocked.

Pirates increased their advantage soon after half-time. Substitute Tshepang Moremi made an immediate impact, converting a square pass from Bulelani Sigomoshe to make it 2-0.

The home side added a third goal with 13 minutes remaining, as Simphiwe Masilela finished another well-worked passing move. Galaxy’s defence struggled to withstand the continued pressure from the defending champions.

The result gives Pirates their sixth league win in seven matches and leaves them second in the PSL standings, one point behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played a game more.

It was a strong response from Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side after their MTN8 final defeat by Sundowns in Durban on Saturday.
