Omar Marmoush set to leave Manchester City for Tottenham, says Enzo Maresca

Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush is set to leave the club and join Tottenham, according to City manager Enzo Maresca, although the transfer has not yet been formally completed.

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the Egypt international, who underwent a medical with the London club on Wednesday. The deal is expected to be announced within the next few hours.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Maresca said: “Omar Marmoush is preparing to leave Manchester City. The deal has not been officially completed yet, we are waiting for that to happen.”

He added: “Nico Gonzalez has left, Savinho has left, and Marmoush is also on his way out.”

Marmoush was given permission by Manchester City to undergo his medical with Tottenham, according to The Athletic. The report also said the forward said goodbye to his City team-mates on Wednesday morning before preparing to move to the Premier League club.

The proposed transfer is expected to initially take the form of a loan agreement, with Tottenham obliged to make the move permanent if certain conditions are met. The overall value of the deal is understood to be about £60m.

Marmoush is expected to sign a four-year contract with Tottenham, with the option of extending it by a further season.

Tottenham are keen to complete the transfer quickly so that Marmoush can be available for their match against Newcastle United on Saturday. Newcastle are regarded as Marmoush’s favourite opponents and he has scored seven goals against them.

The move would take Tottenham’s spending during the summer transfer window to about £400m, following the club’s agreement to sign Savinho from Manchester City.

Tottenham confirmed Savinho’s arrival on Tuesday but did not disclose the fee. Reports have suggested the deal could be worth more than £75m.

The club regard Marmoush as a key part of their plans to rebuild their attack under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. He has made 62 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists.

During his time at Manchester City, Marmoush won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

Tottenham began their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 defeat by Brentford on Saturday in the opening round of fixtures. The club are now looking to strengthen their attacking options, with Marmoush expected to become the latest major arrival as they continue their summer recruitment.

Savinho’s move was also part of Tottenham’s dealings with Manchester City, while Nico Gonzalez and Savinho have already departed City, according to Maresca. Marmoush’s expected transfer would therefore represent another significant change to Manchester City’s attacking group, subject to the completion and formal announcement of the agreement.
