Omar Abdulkadir Artan to referee Burkina Faso v Benin in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take charge of Burkina Faso’s meeting with Benin on 25 September 2026.

The match, part of the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, will be played at the Stade du 4-Aout in Ouagadougou.

Artan will be assisted by fellow Somalis Hamza Hagi Abdi and Ali Mohamud Mahad. Abdifatah Saed Saed Mire has been named as the fourth official.

Algerian Djamil Ould Ammar will serve as match commissioner, while Niger’s Attama Ibrahim Boureima has been appointed referee assessor.

Artan is an established figure in African refereeing. He was named CAF Men’s Referee of the Year in 2025 and recently officiated the 2026 UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa.
