Olympiakos fail with €7m move for Algeria midfielder Yacine Titraoui as Charleroi set €10m stance

Olympiakos have had a €7m offer rejected for Algeria international Yacine Titraoui, with Charleroi refusing to sell the midfielder for less than €10m as interest grows ahead of the new season.

The Greek side, last season’s runners-up and now facing the Champions League play-offs, have accelerated their pursuit of the 23-year-old but have been firmly rebuffed by the Belgian club.

Hull City, newly promoted to the Premier League, are also monitoring Titraoui as he enters the final year of his contract at Charleroi, raising the prospect of a move in this transfer window.

Charleroi stand firm over key midfielder

According to Belgian outlet Sudinfo, Olympiakos – known as “Thrylos” – submitted a €7m bid to Charleroi for Titraoui, who has become one of the most heavily used players in the squad.

Charleroi, nicknamed “Les Zebres”, immediately turned down the proposal and have made clear they are unwilling to part with the player for less than €10m despite his contract being due to expire in a year.

Titraoui was the fifth most-used member of the Charleroi squad last season and the club are reluctant to lose such an important figure without receiving what they consider to be full value.

From Paradou to a breakout season in Belgium

Titraoui joined Charleroi in July 2024 from Paradou, the Algerian club where he came through the academy system, and has just completed a highly productive first season in southern Belgium.

Born in M’Sila, the midfielder made 42 appearances in all competitions for Charleroi last term, starting 40 of those matches. He scored five goals and provided three assists, underlining his influence in both phases of play.

His performances have drawn attention beyond Belgium, with both Olympiakos and Hull City now viewing him as a potential reinforcement for the 2026-27 campaign.

Algeria role and next career step

On the international stage, Titraoui is already part of the Algeria set-up and has been capped five times by the Fennecs.

He was included in the Algeria squad that reached the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup but did not play a single minute during the tournament.

If he does leave Charleroi during the current transfer window, Titraoui would be lining up for only the third club of his professional career, after Paradou and his current side.

For now, however, Charleroi’s position is unchanged: they are prepared to hold on to one of last season’s key performers unless their €10m valuation is met.
