Nottingham Forest stun Manchester City with two-goal burst in 18 minutes

Manchester City’s difficult run in the Premier League continued as they conceded twice inside the opening 18 minutes against Nottingham Forest.

Jair Cunha put Forest ahead in the sixth minute, before Liam Delap doubled their advantage 12 minutes later to leave Enzo Maresca’s side facing an early setback.

The start marked a significant moment in Manchester City’s Premier League record. According to Opta, it was the earliest point at which the club had fallen two goals behind in a league match since their meeting with Liverpool in November 2019.

Liverpool took a 2-0 lead in that game through Fabinho in the sixth minute and Mohamed Salah in the 13th. Sadio Mane added a third for the Reds in the 51st minute, while Bernardo Silva scored City’s consolation in the 78th as Liverpool went on to win 3-1.

City had already lost their previous two Premier League matches before facing Forest. They were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa and then suffered a 1-0 defeat by Brighton.

The latest result leaves Manchester City second in the table on 21 points. Arsenal strengthened their position at the top earlier in the day with a 1-0 victory over Hull City, taking their total to 27 points.
