Leeds United forward Lukas Nmecha has set his sights firmly on a first-ever appearance at Wembley Stadium as the club prepares for a high-stakes FA Cup quarterfinal clash against West Ham United.

With a semifinal berth on the line, the encounter represents a defining moment in Leeds’ campaign and an opportunity to edge closer to one of football’s most iconic venues.

For Nmecha, the occasion carries added personal significance, having never previously featured at Wembley, a milestone he is eager to reach.

The German attacker has delivered encouraging performances in recent weeks, gradually finding rhythm within the Leeds frontline. While acknowledging there is still room for improvement in his finishing, Nmecha struck a measured tone when reflecting on his contributions so far, suggesting he has made the most of the opportunities presented to him.

“I have been happy to an extent,” he said. “Some things I could have done better, a few chances come to mind now and then but generally with the chances I have had, I think I have done quite well.”

Leeds’ FA Cup run has reignited belief among supporters, with the prospect of a Wembley outing adding further motivation within the squad. Nmecha underlined the collective ambition to extend their journey in the competition, framing the quarterfinal as both a challenge and an opportunity.

“I have never played there (at Wembley) before. It would be amazing. I think for the fans it would be a good day out as well. We are close, so we might as well try and go all the way. It will be a challenge for them as well.”

Tactically, Nmecha has also shown adaptability, featuring in a left-sided role in recent matches. The positional shift appears to have suited him, offering greater involvement in build-up play while maintaining his attacking threat.

“Obviously, I have played that position now for a couple of games which has been fine,” he added. “I am glad to start the games. I am enjoying my football. I am enjoying the time here – it is really nice to be here.”
