Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has officially unveiled the 26 players selected to represent the Seleção at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Neymar’s inclusion becoming the major talking point of the announcement ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

Neymar Returns to the National Team

The 34-year-old forward earned a place in the squad after rediscovering strong form with Santos following a difficult spell at Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Neymar has registered six goals and four assists this season for his boyhood club and will now prepare for his fourth World Cup appearance after previously featuring in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 editions.

Brazil supporters reacted with excitement when Ancelotti confirmed Neymar’s selection, celebrating the return of the country’s all-time leading scorer, who has netted 79 goals in 128 international appearances.

Premier League and European Stars Included

Ancelotti’s squad includes several high-profile names from Europe’s top leagues, including Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson and former Manchester City shot-stopper Ederson.

Defenders Gabriel Magalhães and Marquinhos also secured places, while Manchester United midfielder Casemiro returns alongside Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães.

Young Talents Earn Their Chance

Highly rated youngster Endrick was included following an impressive loan spell at Lyon, while Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli and Brentford striker Igor Thiago also made the final squad.

Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha, Bournemouth’s Rayan, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, and Barcelona attacker Raphinha were among the attacking options selected.

Joao Pedro Misses Out

One notable omission from the squad was Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, despite his solid performances during his first season at the club.

Brazil’s World Cup Schedule

Brazil will begin their World Cup campaign against Morocco on June 13 before facing Haiti on June 20. Their final Group C fixture will come against Scotland on June 24.

Quest for a Sixth World Cup Title

The five-time world champions are aiming to end a long wait for global success, having not lifted the World Cup trophy since their triumph in 2002 during the era of Ronaldo Nazário and Ronaldinho.
