Nigeria’s Vincent Augustus joins Austria’s SKU Amstetten on loan from LASK

Nigerian striker Vincent Augustus has joined Austrian second-tier side SKU Ertl Glas Amstetten from LASK as the club moved to strengthen its attacking options before the transfer window closed.

The 20-year-old forward joins Amstetten through a cooperation agreement with LASK after an impressive start to the season with the Linz club’s second team.

Augustus has scored four goals in six appearances in the current Regionalliga Mitte campaign, performances that have earned him an opportunity to take the next step in his development.

Amstetten add pace and physicality

Amstetten sporting director Thomas Gebauer welcomed the arrival of the Nigerian forward and highlighted the qualities he is expected to bring to the squad.

“We are happy that with Vini we have been able to gain another type of player for our team who gives us another important element with his speed and physicality.”

The club believes Augustus will offer a different attacking dimension as it prepares for the demands of the season.

Competition for places

Gebauer also expects the Nigerian’s arrival to increase competition within the Amstetten squad.

“His qualities will add versatility to our game, which will certainly benefit us over a long season. His signing will boost competition within the squad.”

For Augustus, the move represents an important opportunity to gain experience in Austria’s second division after beginning the season strongly with LASK’s reserve side.

The 20-year-old will now hope his pace, physical presence and eye for goal can help him make an immediate impact at Amstetten while continuing the development of his professional career in European football.
