Newcastle United have taken a first step in their bid to sign Swedish forward of Cameroonian descent, Anthony Elanga.
The English Premier League outfit has presented a £55 million offer to Nottingham Forest and is currently negotiating to sign the highly-rated winger.
Elanga enjoyed a standout campaign under Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo last season, registering six goals and 11 assists in the Premier League.
His form has not only silenced doubts following his departure from Manchester United but has also made him a vital figure in Forest’s attack.
While details of Newcastle’s proposal remain under wraps, reports have hinted that Harvey Barnes could have been offered as part of a swap-plus-cash deal.
According to Transfer Insider Fabrizio Romano, talks between Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are at the initial stage but could progress very fast if the proposed fee is accepted.
Elanga, according to checks, is happy at Nottingham Forest but is not ruling out a transfer this summer.
