The newly elected president of Raja Club Athletic, Jawad Al-Zayat, has thrown his full support behind Tunisian head coach Lassaad Chabbi during their first official meeting, effectively silencing speculation about the coach’s potential dismissal.
According to sources, Al-Zayat expressed confidence in Chabbi’s leadership and praised the significant progress the team made under his guidance last season.
Chabbi, who became the club’s fifth coach of the campaign when he joined mid-season, orchestrated a remarkable turnaround that lifted Raja to fifth place in the league standings.
The same sources revealed that Al-Zayat has also decided to strengthen Chabbi’s backroom staff with the inclusion of former club players—a move seen as a gesture of trust and appreciation for the coach’s unbeaten run in the final stretch of the league.
Under Chabbi, Raja went 11 league matches without a loss, recording six wins and five draws. The team’s only setback during his tenure came in the Throne Cup against Ittihad Oujda.
Al-Zayat has made it clear that his administration’s top priority is to restore Raja’s dominance on the African stage, with a renewed focus on competing strongly in the CAF Champions League.
