Mustapha Raji set for unopposed third term as LFA President after challenger’s disqualification
The incumbent President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha Raji, is poised to extend his leadership for another four years after emerging as the sole candidate for the upcoming elections scheduled for May 15, 2026.
Raji’s path to an unopposed third term was cleared after the LFA Elections Committee disqualified his only challenger, Cassell A. Kuoh.
The committee ruled that Kuoh was ineligible to contest under provisions in the LFA Statutes, which bar individuals with prior criminal convictions from participating in electoral processes.
The decision effectively removes any contest from the race, leaving Raji as the only remaining candidate to lead the federation into a new term.
Raji, who has already served two consecutive terms, has overseen significant developments within Liberian football during his tenure, including administrative restructuring and efforts aimed at strengthening the domestic game.
Beyond his national role, he also holds influence at the continental level, serving as a two-term member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee. His position within CAF has further elevated his profile in African football governance circles.
The upcoming election is now expected to be a formality, with attention shifting to Raji’s agenda for what would be his third consecutive term at the helm of Liberian football.
