Former Moroccan international and national icon Mustapha Hadji has delivered a bold message to Brazil national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, suggesting that the South American giants should be wary of the growing strength of Morocco.

The comments come just weeks before the start of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where Brazil are expected to face a difficult opening challenge against a resurgent Moroccan side.

Morocco’s Rise Since 2022 World Cup Breakthrough

During an appearance on the “Remontada” programme on Medi1TV, Hadji reflected on the progress of Morocco national football team since their historic fourth-place finish at the 2022 World Cup.

He noted that the team has grown in confidence and competitiveness on the global stage, while also suggesting that Brazil’s traditional dominance is not as strong as it once was.

Strong Warning to Brazil and Other Rivals

Hadji did not hold back in his assessment of Brazil’s current level compared to previous generations, issuing a direct caution to their World Cup rivals.

He said: ” It is Brazil that should be wary of Morocco… Brazil is not the same as it was in 1998 or 2002, and neither is Scotland.”

He added a broader warning to teams in their group about underestimating Morocco’s capabilities at the tournament.

“Everyone Should Be Wary of Morocco”

Concluding his remarks, the Moroccan legend emphasised that his national team should no longer be viewed as an underdog on the world stage.

He said: “In this group, everyone should be wary of Morocco.”

The statement reflects growing confidence around the Atlas Lions camp as they prepare for another major World Cup campaign, with expectations significantly higher than in previous editions.
