MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns sells out after ticketing problems
Tickets for next Saturday’s MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at Moses Mabhida Stadium have sold out, despite widespread technical problems affecting the online sales process.
The PSL confirmed on Friday evening that no tickets remained after they went on sale at 10am. The rapid sell-out underlined the level of interest in the Durban final among football supporters.
However, many fans experienced frustration throughout the day as the Open Tickets online ticketing system was hit by repeated technical issues.
Orlando Pirates will host Mamelodi Sundowns in a final that gives the Buccaneers an opportunity to extend their remarkable record in the competition. Pirates have won the MTN8 in each of the past four seasons.
Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, are seeking their first MTN8 triumph since 2021. They defeated Cape Town City on penalties in that final.
Pirates manager Abdeslam Ouaddou does not have any major injury concerns ahead of the match.
Sundowns manager Miguel Cardoso faces greater uncertainty over the availability of Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and Bathusi Aubaas. All three players picked up injuries while on duty with Bafana Bafana.
The final will bring together the reigning four-time winners and a Sundowns side aiming to reclaim the trophy for the first time since their 2021 success.
